Ziggo, the largest cable operator in the Netherlands, provides cable television, broadband internet and telephone services to millions of users.
To support new offerings, Ziggo needed several features to be included with their new platform - an Electonic Program Guide (EPG) with an overview of more than 160 TV channels, TV news and a full list of on-demand movies, serious and music. Ziggo also wanted users to be able to stream live TV from their mobile channel. Mobiquity was asked to develop the project through conception, delivery and implementation.
A challenging aspect of the project was the navigating the streaming of online content. When watching live TV, speed is crucial. The application needed seamless integration with Ziggo's streaming servers. Our expertise in software integration enabled us to rise to the challenge and deliver the first version of the Ziggo TV app for iPad in a three month timeframe. From there, we designed and delivered apps for iPhone and Android.
The Ziggo TV app was rate four starts in the Apple App Store after it was launched. In 2012, it won a "MMMA Award (Mobile Media and Marketing Awards)" in the "Best Mobile Interaction Platform for Publishers and Broadcasters" category. Post launch, the TV app will be extened with new functionalities and integrated with social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
