UnitedHealth Group has acquired Boston-based healthcare analytics startup Humedica. According to the Boston Business Journal, the purchase is part of a new big-data facility that aims to draw from 110 million patents to find ways to improve care and lower costs. Humedica’s portfolio includes MinedStream, real-time predictive software that identifies high-cost and high-risk patients. Humedica is the seventh Massachusetts-based health IT UnitedHealth has picked up since 2006.
