Microsoft Breaks the Mold: Office Available for Rent

Microsoft Office is one the most successful applications in the software industry, and so it is big news when its payment structure is changed. Now, customers can either lease the software for a $100 annual fee or purchase it outright for $140. The question is why would anyone fork out one hundred bucks a year when Google offers a basic suite of comparable services for free and just $50 for a premium version. Microsoft’s answer? Users will be allowed to install Office on up to five devices, get online storage space through Microsoft SkyDrive and an hour of free Skype minutes
