Retailers Want to Win the mPayments Race
Some retailers, afraid they'll lose out on precious data, are trying to beat the likes of Google Wallet, ISIS and PayPal by offering in-store mPayment solutions. To do so, their apps will process payments in-store or keep credit-card information. Many big merchandisers already have private store credit cards that feed user behavior, shopping habits and preferences to the company's database. Retailers are worried that their current data-collection systems will take a hit as Google, the carriers and PayPal come to market with different mobile wallet products.
