According to Juniper Research, global mobile payment volume is expected to come close to three-quarters of a trillion dollars annually by 2017. Juniper expects that mobile point-of-sale payment systems for physical goods, such as in retail stores and restaurants, will continue to proliferate at an impressive level, driving the mPayment volume right along with them. Juniper also expects the continuation of another major trend—the transition of digital purchasing from traditional desktop PCs and laptops over to smartphones and tablets, making this a significant contributor towards the immense growth expected in the mPayment sector.
