iOS and Android Continue to Dominate Global Smartphone Market
August 09, 2012
According to IDC, Android and iOS smartphones accounted for 85 percent of the 152 million smartphones sold in Q2 of 2012 or just more than 129 million. Of that 152 million, Google-powered devices made up 68.1 percent. Apple's smartphone market share of only 16.9 percent is very likely due to the massive anticipation for the next generation of the iPhone, which is expected sometime this fall. While things may be down for Cupertino for the moment, if the new release plays out as expected, it seems safe to assume that iOS will bounce back in a major way. Report
