GoPago Entices Merchants to mPayment System with Free Tablet, Support
Merchants, especially restaurant owners, can be leery about adopting a new mPayment system due to the extra time, cost and effort associated with integrating a new system into their establishments. This hesitation is a barrier that mPayment companies have been trying to work around as mobile continues its skyrocketing adoption trends throughout the global market. San Francisco-based GoPago hopes that it has found a solution to this common merchant-adoption issue: furnish them with a free system, including set up and support. In exchange for a 2.85-percent transaction fee, GoPago believes that merchants will be enticed by the added business coming from the convenience and customer willingness to pay via mobile app. GoPago's system is currently up in more than 1,000 restaurants and stores in San Francisco and Dallas, with 50,000 people using the app to pay via mobile. Furthermore, with Forrester predicting another three to five years before mPayments reach a critical mass, who knows how far GoPago or a system like it may go?
